Sandra Leslie Zupancich, 78, of Silver Bay, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Carefree Assisted Living in Silver Bay.
Sandy was born July 1, 1943 to Oliver and Eileen (Hoppa) Elfving in Duluth. She graduated from Ely Memorial High School in 1961, and married Bernard “Bernie” Zupancich on July 13, 1963. They moved to Silver Bay in 1964.
Sandy was an avid bowler and golfer in her early years. She was a wiz at crossword puzzles, and enjoyed reading books, her favorite writers being Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bernie.
She is survived by a son, Brian (Theresa) Zupancich of Silver Bay; and a brother, Timothy Elfving of Ely.
Brian and Theresa would like to say THANK YOU to Katie, Kelly, and the RA’s at Carefree Living and the Ecumen Hospice Team for the care, support, and compassion that they provided Sandy in the last couple weeks of her life.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. A light lunch will follow.
