FRANCES MARIE LARSON, 89, died peacefully in her sleep on February 8, 2022, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

She leaves her son David and wife Melody; grandchildren Chelsea and Andrew; and sister Denne’ and husband Ronald.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell H. Larson in 2019.

Born June 17, 1932, to Blaz and Frances Zakrajsek, she was the oldest grandchild of Frances and Joseph Gregorich. Frances was raised in the hamlet of Spaulding by the waters of Shagawa Lake, graduating from Ely Memorial High School in 1950.

Frances worked at Oliver Mining Company, a division of US Steel, and then at Norwest Investment Services (Wells Fargo) in Duluth, retiring in 1989 after 34 years. On July 9, 1955, she married Russell, living in Duluth for 46 years before moving to Farmington, MN, in 2001. Frances and Russell were active square dancers & officers of Seaway Swingers and Harbor Squares of Duluth for 28 years. They also enjoyed many summers at their Makinen, MN, lake home, and many winters in Arizona.

A confident, sharp, meticulous, outspoken woman who never went to college, Frances rose through the ranks of the banking industry, eventually becoming a trusted financial advisor for some of Duluth’s wealthiest families. She loved to read novels, could make fantastic potica, was fascinated with birds, and was able to recite IRS regulations off the top of her head.

Private services. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park. Not surprisingly, she wanted any memorials forwarded to Duluth Public Library, 520 W. Superior Street, Duluth.
